What Is the Canadian Dental Care Plan?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal program launched to provide financial support for dental care to uninsured Canadians with lower incomes. Administered by Health Canada and Sun Life, the CDCP helps cover a range of preventive and restorative dental services at reduced cost to eligible patients, including seniors, children, adults, and uninsured Canadian residents—and we’re proud to be participating providers.
Who Qualifies for the CDCP?
You may be eligible if you meet all of the following:
- You don’t have access to any private dental insurance
- Your adjusted family net income is under $90,000
- You are a Canadian resident for tax purposes
- You have filed your tax return for the previous year
Coverage is income-based, and all patients are responsible for a co-payment regardless of income tier. The amount you pay depends on your household income.

- Surgical extractions (with prior approval)
- Post-operative care
Prosthodontic Services
- Complete and partial dentures (removable)
- Adjustments, relines, and repairs to existing dentures
Note: Some procedures — particularly complex ones — may require pre-authorization based on individual clinical needs. Cosmetic services like teeth whitening or veneers are not included under the CDCP.

Yes! We’re a participating provider and happy to accept patients under the Canadian Dental Care Plan at our dental clinic.
Yes — all patients are responsible for a co-payment. Although the CDCP provides significant financial support, it follows a federal fee schedule, which may differ from the Ontario Dental Association (ODA) fee guide used at our clinic. Even if your income qualifies you for the highest level of coverage, a small out-of-pocket cost may still apply due to differences in fee structures.
You’re not eligible for the CDCP if you have access to private insurance (through work, school, or other means), even if you don’t use it.
Cosmetic services like teeth whitening or veneers are not covered. Some advanced treatments may also require pre-approval.
Our team will submit a pre-authorization if needed and let you know exactly what is covered before treatment begins.
